Whiteside County Flood Information (FEMA)
INCREASED COST of COMPLIANCE COVERAGE (ICC) PROGRAM
In 1994, the National Flood Insurance Reform Act created the Increased Cost of Compliance Coverage (ICC) program. A building (residential and non-residential) is eligible for an ICC payment when:
- the building is located in a 1% flood zone (formerly Zone A or "100 Year Flood"); and
- the building is substantially damaged as a result of a flood (damage equals 50% or more of the preflood market value); and
- the owner of an existing buidling can bring it into compliance with the local floodplain management ordinance by elevating the structure, relocating the structure to another location, or demolishing it; and
- the structure is covered by a Standard Flood Insurance Policy that was in place prior to the flood.
If these requirements are met, the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) will pay up to $30,000.00 to assist in bringing the structure into compliance. This is in addition to your damage claim.
