Whiteside County is pleased to announce that Whiteside County Public Transportation System will receive $968,000 from the Federal Transportation Administration and is a part of a nearly $10million federal grant to Illinois for upgrades to the facility in Sterling located at the Senior Center.  Upgrades will consist of more vehicle storage space, a maintenance bay and a wash bay system.  The total project cost is $1.21M with a match of $242,000 from a state capital grant which will also cover design, environmental and construction.

Whiteside County now has a direct link to county schools.

Whiteside County Department of Management Services hereby requests written proposals for the  lease and installation of 19 Digital Copiers at the Whiteside County Court House (Morrison, IL) and the Eastern Branch Court Facility (Sterling, IL)

Information may be obtained by telephoning the Whiteside County Department of Manangement Services at (815)772-5101 or by picking it up at the Department of Management Services, Room 222, Whiteside County Courthouse, 200 E. Knox St., Morrison, IL between the hours of 8:30am and 4:30pm monday through Friday (excluding legal holidays) or click here

Absentee voting will be offered during regular office hours between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.  In person absentee voting will also be offered on Saturday, October 16, 23 and 30th from 9:00 a.m. until noon.  The last day to vote in person absentee is Monday, November 1, 2010.

A registered voter may also vote an absentee ballot by mail.  Nelson noted that mail applications for absentee ballot must be received by the election authority no later than Thursday, October 28, 2010.

Lyndon Road (north) to Reopen
(Approx. 4½ miles N of Rt. 30  and  4½ mi. NE of the City of Morrison)


The Whiteside County Highway Department has announced the reopening of Lyndon Road (north of Rt. 30) beginning at 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 31, 2010.  The road had been closed for approximately 3 months to allow for the replacement of a 3-span bridge plus related approach work.  

The Highway Department would like to thank the traveling public for their patience and cooperation during the closure.

Whiteside County Clerk, Dana Nelson, wishes to remind disabled and elderly voters of the many aids and provisions for assistance in voting at the upcoming election.  Nelson said that her office welcomes inquiries by anyone who feels they may wish to take advantage of these aids at the November 2, 2010 General Election.
