Youth fishing derby at state park
BY SVN NEWS SERVICE MORRISON - Whiteside County Sheriff's Department will present its 36th annual youth fishing derby from 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 6 at Morrison Rockwood State Park, 18750 Lake Road, Morrison. Children 15 and younger may participate, with registration starting at 8:30 a.m. A parent or guardian must sign for each child who enters, with forms available near the concession stand on the morning of the derby. The age categories are 1 to 7 years, 8 to 11, and 12 to 15. Species of fish to be judged are largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, catfish, walleye, and muskellunge. If a fish is not caught and registered in any of the species classes, the grand prize will be awarded in an open drawing to anyone who has registered a fish. There will be hundreds of other prizes awarded during the day; it is not necessary to catch a fish to be eligible to win one of the prizes. Fishing Derby Flyer 152.61 Kb |
